KickApps provides brands, enterprises and web publishers with solutions that enable them to create and manage next generation web experiences that are social, interactive, dynamic, distributed, and data-informed. KickApps solutions consist of a suite of hosted social and media applications and services that are used by some of the world’s largest websites and brands to grow & engage their online audiences and foster deeper relationships with customers.

KickApps clients include HBO, CW Television Network, National Geographic, Guinness World Records, Johnson & Johnson, Proctor & Gamble, Kraft, the Special Olympics and numerous professional sports teams around the world.

KickApps was founded in January, 2005 by Eric Alterman and Pete Clark based on the premise that online communities (like communities in the real world) will ultimately exist at contextually relevant hubs (websites) rather than all-purpose, all-interest mega-portals that pioneered online communities.

In early 2007, Alex Blum, a veteran of the internet and media industries, joined the company as CEO and has since created an organization that is fueled by innovation and dedicated to delivering products and services that address the needs of web publishers in building next generation websites.

Headquartered in New York City, KickApps currently has 80 employees based in offices in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Mumbai and Orlando. The company is backed by leading venture investors Softbank Capital, Spark Capital, Prism Venture Partners, North Atlantic Capital and Jarl Mohn (founder of E! Entertainment and Liberty Digital, previous Chairman of the Board of CNET, Director at Scripps). Additionally, Sara Levinson, chairperson of ClubMom and former president of NFL Properties, the licensing, marketing, and sponsorship division of the National Football League, is a member of the company’s board.
