Today Mike Sommers and Cameron Shaw are officially joining KickApps as SVP and VP of Product Management, respectively. Both AOL veterans, I’ve known and worked with these two for years and their talent and experience will be a tremendous asset to our team. We’re thrilled to have them on board—welcome Mike and Cameron!

I’ve just completed my second month on the job and thought it was time to express my appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the KickApps team here in NYC, London, SF, and Mumbai. Your efforts are paying off—the response to KickApps 2.0 has been phenomenal. Equally important, I wanted to say a few words to the thousands of publishers/affiliates using the KickApps platform. Although we’ve designed KickApps to be the best social media platform out there, we’re always working to improve it, and we know its success depends on your input. So please keep your comments and suggestions coming.
The biggest thrill for me–now a daily experience–is to discover some cool new site that’s using KickApps in an inspiring or creative way. One such site is RelightNY, a non-profit started by a bright group of teenagers dedicated to the cause of changing every light bulb in Manhattan to energy-efficient CFL light bulbs. As a father and an avid outdoorsman I obsess about global climate change, and I’m convinced that governmental edicts won’t save us but innovation will. Relight’s efforts to raise awareness around this issue will really make a difference, and KickApps is thrilled to be involved. I encourage you to join their community at RelightNY.com.
