Citizen journalism isn’t new but it can be very impressive when you see it in action. This photo was uploaded to IOWA’s NBC Affiliate KWWL.com “Show and Tell” KickApps powered site.

As we announced in April, we’ve partnered with Worldnow to help get social media in the hands local TV affiliates around the country. Social media is proving to be extremely effective for local communities to share photos and videos around local interests. It’s no surprise that weather, sports and other areas of local interest are rising to the top.

In KWWL.com’s case, the Show and Tell site has become a place for residents to share their experiences around what some are calling a ‘500-year flood.’ Thousands of photos and videos have been uploaded to KWWL and other Quincy Newspaper, Inc. owned stations’ websites in the mid-west, such as WGEM-TV. For other interesting photos from Iowa residents, click here, here, and here. You can see all the photos on KWWL here.
