Overview

Using our site privacy feature, you can restrict access to your site, so that only approved registered members of your site can view your site's pages. All non-members who attempt to view your any of your site's pages will be directed to your site's login screen. Once they log in they will be able to view your site's pages. Optionally, they can apply for membership to your site if they don't have login credentials.

Enabling Site Privacy

You can enable the site/community privacy option on the Affiliate Center > Configure > Settings > Site Settings page. By default site privacy is set to off.

Registration Flow for Private Sites

When an anonymous user tries to visit the site he will be taken to the login/register page. If he is already a registered member he can sign in and interact with the site normally. If he isn't registered yet and wishes to register he will be taken to the following confirmation page.

An email is sent to you (webmaster) notifying him of the new sign-up waiting for his approval. You can review and approve the member in the Affiliate Center > Manage > Member page.

Once the member is approved he will receive the usual member welcome email and he can then log in and interact with the site.

Sites with Email Verification Enabled

When a member first registers, he will see the confirmation page above instead of the usual email verification confirmation page. The verification email is sent only once you approve the member. Standard email verification process follows.

RSS Feeds and Widgets

For private communities, all content syndication features such as RSS Feeds and My Widgets are disable for the site members. All feeds that were taken from the site pages will show their title as "Disabled Feed" and the description would read "The feed you are trying to access has been disabled by the community administrator." Feeds created in feed builder will continue to work. You can still continue to create widgets and feeds using the App Studio and Feeds Builder interfaces.
