We are experiencing some intermittent issues in the CMS environment causing outages.  Our Engineers are working on the issue and we expect to update this post again once additional information becomes available.

As indicated in a message that you received from us on Wednesday, February 8th, KIT digital is planning to merge KIT Social into KIT Cloud (URL = http://www.kitd.com/js/eloqua/elqRedir.htm?ref=http://www.kitd.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/KIT-Cloud.pdf) ,  a leading online video platform that will allow you to build innovative social video experiences for the web and connected devices.

As part of the process of integrating these two powerful tools, we have determined a need to provide you with a new, unique username in order to assure that your access will not be interrupted.  The actual merging of the platforms will  take place on Monday – February13th, your new username will begin working immediately.

Both your old and new username will be sent again via email for your reference on Monday – February 13th,

Your password will not change as a result of this process.

Later this month, we will be updating you with more information about the merging of KIT Cloud and KIT Social, and the exciting benefits of our new integrated platform.

We are currently performing some maintenance within the CMS environment which relates to the updates of SSL certificates.  There should be no downtime as a result of this work.

8:30pm EST – The intermittent issues have been resolved.

At approximately 2:27pm EST, hardware supporting CMS hosted sites began experiencing intermittent outages.
Our technical support team is currently investigating the root cause for these issues. We will provide an update once more information becomes avialable.

The KIT Social Platform has been upgraded to accommodate the recent Facebook change to JavascriptSDK (as noted below).  Users should be able to enable Facebook Connect by using the documentation as outlined here: http://www.kickapps.com/documentation/index.php/Facebook_Connect_and_KickApps

You may have recently received an email from Facebook indicating that an app running within your KIT Social community will require an upgrade to JavascriptSDK by February 1, 2012.

The following is an excerpt from Facebook’s recent alert e-mail;

We currently detect that your app is using the old JavaScript SDK (FeatureLoader.js). This library will no longer work for authentication on February 1st, 2012 since it does not support OAuth 2.0. In May, we announced that all apps on Facebook need to support OAuth 2.0 by October 1st, 2011. Please upgrade to the new JavaScript SDK by February 1st, 2012 to avoid any disruption of service to your app.

In order to ensure that your app will continue to work on Facebook after their upcoming update, there are some minor edits that need to be made to your KIT Social Community and Facebook Fan Page:

•    Our engineering team is planning some modifications to the KIT Social Platform that will accommodate this upgrade to JavascriptSDK. These modifications are scheduled to go live today (Monday, January 30th).  Please keep an eye on the notification section of our site in order to see when these changes have been made - http://www.kickapps.com/category/updates/
•    We also require that affected customers make a few simple modifications to the GPT (Global Page Template) within your community.  A member of our team is available to assist you in making these changes: Please respond to this email directly for assistance.
•    You will also need to establish a new “app id” within Facebook. To accomplish this, we recommend creating a new app in Facebook, based on the steps available here;  http://www.kickapps.com/documentation/index.php/Facebook_Connect_and_KickApps

Once you have this app id, please reach out to our team, and we will assist in updating your community to accommodate this new change.

Earlier this morning several reports involving video transcoding issues and problems related to videos playing within KA communities were reported to our team.

These issues have been resolved and all videos should be transcoding and playing properly now.  Clients using RTMP, custom cdn’s & custom workflows were not affected by these problems.
