KickApps Launches Custom Community Insights

Provides Real Time Actionable Insights Into Community Activity, Influencers, Sentiment and Trends

NEW YORK, July 14, 2009 – KickApps (www.kickapps.com), the industry’s leading on-demand social media, video player and widget platform, today announced the availability of a community insights dashboard that is highly customizable to suit the needs of its diverse set of clients. Using the KickApps Insights dashboard, clients will be able to derive actionable insights based on their members’ engagement with content and activities in their KickApps websites. Clients are able to track discussions, identify influencers, understand sentiment and use the resulting insights to guide advertising, overall marketing strategy, editorial programming, product development and customer support.

“Finding value in the abundance of real-time information can be extremely challenging for businesses using social media to engage with their customers,” said Mike Sommers, senior vice president, products, KickApps. “KickApps Insights goes far beyond mere web analytics by putting filtered and relevant data and analysis into the hands of people that can use this information to make better business decisions. Whether you work in the marketing, customer support or product development departments, this approach becomes an invaluable piece of your digital tool kit.”

Sommers, who ran AOL Search products and developed enhanced systems to gain insight into the AOL membership and activity habits, is leveraging his expertise together with a team of analysts to develop the next wave of social insight at KickApps.

KickApps Insights enable clients to easily define variables to monitor and analyze based on given business needs. For example, a community manager for a professional sports team may wish to gain deeper insight into their community’s most active and influential members (based on interactions with others and content contributions) to promote new events or merchandise. Alternatively, a product manager may wish to gain insight into trends and sentiment to inform research and development efforts by seeking feedback and ideas from customers and fans. The clients select which variables are required, defines the feeds and assembles the widget-based dashboard. These widgets can also be shared to others in the company for collaborative decision-making.

A custom framework for the KickApps Insights dashboard is developed in collaboration between clients and the KickApps Client Solutions teams. Once the framework is designed, clients will be able to access and create insight reports on a self-service basis. Insights that publishers, marketers and enterprise clients will need, include:

  • A complete view of customer sentiment about a brand, promotion or product
  • Identifying influencers, advocates and nay-sayers to target engagement, communications or promotions
  • Providing customer support teams with leading indicators of issues or problems to be proactively addressed
  • Analyzing customer and partner feedback and recommendations for crowd sourcing research & development
  • Arming marketing teams with competitor and market research
