KickApps Rolls Out Enhanced Publisher Customization and Community Experiences

Upgraded Features Include Full-Screen Video for Delivering Editorial and User-Generated Video

(NEW YORK) – July 17, 2007– KickApps Corporation, today announced the availability of KickApps Version 2.2, the latest upgrade to the company’s industry-leading hosted social media platform. The release features functionality designed to augment customization for publishers seeking to deliver a branded community environment and experience. Included in the release are two new video players, the ability to deliver full-screen video that enables publishers to deliver richer and more engaging editorial and user-generated video experiences, new page themes, and enhanced site and media management capabilities.

Online video continues rapid growth

Online video continues to gain popularity with more than 126 million American viewing video online in March 2007, according to comScore’s Video Metrix rankings released in June 2007. As reflected in the report, publishers and users are embracing the role that both editorial and user-generated video play in community sites. KickApps’ new full-screen video players add a new dimension to publishers seeking to separate their offering from the crowd and also drive greater monetization opportunities as a result of more engaged audiences.

“Publishers of all sizes are successfully using social media to drive greater audience engagement with their content and brand,” said Alex Blum, CEO of KickApps. “We focus heavily on delivering a platform that offers powerful out-of-the-box functionality with a full range of customization and control options so that publishers can deliver a brand-centric experience. This new release further raises the bar for what publishers can expect when they seek to deploy a social media platform on their web sites.”

Additional features of KickApps Version 2.2 include:

  • Additional member profile themes: Members can customize their profile pages with a variety of new themes, allowing publishers to encourage deeper levels of community participation
  • Default homepage layout: A newly-styled default homepage emphasizes media content and group features to enable immediate and sustained member engagement
  • Custom "media" icons: To further customize their sites, publishers can upload and use their own default icons for video, audio, photos, members and blogs
  • Email opt-out option: An added layer of control for community members, publishers can allow their members to opt-out of receiving system-generated emails
  • In-community “instant” media moderation and management: Publishers can edit, moderate and reject media directly on their community’s member-facing pages
